Over the past decade, research staff of the Institute made ​​technological projects of underground gas storage facilities operating in Russia, CIS and Eastern Europe. In the 60-ies of XX century VNIGAZ scientists expedience and formulated the basic principles of the Unified Gas Supply System of the country. VNIGAZ designed projects of the biggest natural gas processing complexes: Astrakhan, Orenburg, Surgut, Mubarek.
